Laguna Gloria Engagement Photos in Austin, Texas — Eli + Chelsea

“Can we bring our dogs to our engagement session?”. Listen up, engaged couples. If you ask me this question, there is a prettttty good chance I will squeal with excitement and immediately tell you YES!! (followed by a ridiculous amount of heart eye emojis, sorry not sorry). Trust me, I know how important our fur babies mean to us!

Eli and Chelsea’s engagement session took place at The Contemporary Austin’s Laguna Gloria. This fourteen acre campus on the shores of Lake Austin is most definitely a sight to behold. In 1943, Clara Driscoll, a Texas legend, donated her estate to be used “as a Museum to bring pleasure in the appreciation of art to the people of Texas.” As if that wasn’t interesting enough, the land was originally owned by Stephen F. Austin. Pretty cool, right? Laguna Gloria was actually inspired by a honeymoon visit to Lake Como in Italy, so it’s no wonder you get an Italianate vibe when you’re wandering around this gorgeous space.

As an artist myself, I really love that her vision was to bring pleasure in the appreciation of art. Without further ado, here are some favorites from Eli and Chelsea’s engagement session at Laguna Gloria. It was a morning session, so thankfully we managed to beat most of the Texas heat (and sun!) and had lots of soft morning light to work with.

Laguna Gloria Engagement Session in Austin, Texas

Having your engagement photos done at Laguna Gloria in Austin is always a fabulous idea because of the gorgeous landscaping, awe-inspiring architecture and overall history of this one-of-a-kind place. It doesn’t hurt that the lighting is absolutely gorgeous, too! If copious amounts of natural light and an Italianate aesthetic is your vibe, get at me.

Chateau Bellevue Romantic Wedding in Austin, Texas — Kate & Charles

Old world European charm right in the heart of downtown Austin, Texas? Yes, please ! Last December, I hosted, planned, and designed my very first styled shoot. I’ve always had such an admiration for the old world aesthetic and there is no better place to experience that tiny slice of Europe without leaving Texas than Chateau Bellevue. Seriously, bride-to-be’s, this is your venue if you love that old-world romantic, elegant style. The natural light that bounces off the courtyard grounds and French Romanesque arches is so luminous and dreamy.

I really wanted to channel that timelessness, whimsical, and romanic style of the old world aesthetic so my vision for the day was neutral hues with pops of color, understated details, and simplicity.

(Apparently, rain on your wedding day is considered good luck. Peep the little raindrops in some of these photos!)

Gabriel & Veronica | Corpus Christi Downtown Engagement Session

When Veronica mentioned she wanted her and Gabriel’s engagement photos done at the T-heads downtown in Corpus Christi, Texas, I might have actually squealed. As a Corpus Christi native (born and raised in Corpus, lived there for 23 years), I was thrilled to visit my home town and take photos at a location I have so many childhood memories of. Although I don’t currently live in Corpus anymore, (currently based in Austin, Texas) it’s ALWAYS a delightful experience to visit my hometown and feel all the feels. I guess it’s true what they say — there’s no place like home!

Veronica and I have known each other since middle school and it was SUCH a pleasure & an honor to photograph her and Gabriel. These two ROCKED their engagement session and we had so much fun together! When your client says she wants photos on a restricted dock (like, literally, it was gated and we didn’t have a key fob) that just happens to have the most spectacular city skyline backdrop.. you make it happen! And that I did. ;)

Also — impulsively bringing a bouquet to your engagement session is always a good idea. Look at how these stunning red roses pop against their ensemble.

Hidden Gems in Austin, Texas

In October 2015, I was commissioned by Complex to shoot blogger Daniela Ramirez (@nanysklozet), while she explored some of Austin's "Hidden Gems". We actually stopped by some of my favorite places, starting at the Hotel San Jose on South Congress! The HOPE outdoor gallery was probably my favorite stop of them all.

I can't tell you how much fun I had on this two-day shoot. I had never been commissioned by any media publication, so this was honestly such an eye-opening experience. Serious shoutout to my mom (awww, I know !) for assisting me with all of my camera and gear equipment — you da real MVP, mom. And also, serious thanks to the Universe about how all of this came together with such immaculate timing!

I am so honored to have shot for such an enormous media publication, considering all of the clients that hire Complex to feature them in their magazine publication (Lana Del Rey, Khloe Kardashian, Justin Bieber, etc;)

Here are just some of my favorite photos from the two-day shoot. These are just a glimpse of everything!

You can view some more photos over on Complex’s website.

Shot with my Canon 5D Mark ii & 35mm f/1.4 lens.
